US assault on Najaf condemned

PESHAWAR, Aug 19: The Shia Action Committee on Thursday called upon people to unite against the fascist policies of the US administration and its lackeys in Muslim countries, and defend their holy places across the Muslim world.

Speaking to a group of protesters outside the Peshawar Press Club, SAC leader Haider Jaffari condemned the presence of US occupation forces in Najaf, housing the shrine of fourth caliph, Hazrat Ali (AS).

He condemned the siege of the holy city by the US-led occupation forces and demanded their early withdrawal. He warned that the siege of Najaf was a rehearsal of taking control of the holy cities of Makkah and Madina by the US and giving a final blow to the Muslim Ummah.

The US lackeys, who were ruling the Muslim countries, had facilitated the US occupation forces in capturing the holy cities of Iraq, he added. The US forces, Mr Jaffari said, had taken over the airspace and airports of Muslim countries, encircling Iraq.
