Pakistan, NZ discuss trade

ISLAMABAD, Aug 18: New Zealand Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Phil Goff has emphasized the need for increasing the bilateral trade between Pakistan and New Zealand.

He said this in a meeting with Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan here on Wednesday.

During the meeting there was a consensus of opinion that the framework agreement concluded in Geneva was an important event to achieve progress on the Doha development agenda, says an official announcement.

New Zealand as well as Pakistan were interested in the resolution of issues relating to subsidies on agricultural products.

The commerce minister said that 25 per cent of Pakistan's GDP was related to agriculture, and in case the domestic support and subsidies were eliminated, the national income would get a boost.
