SHEIKHUPURA, Aug 11: The District Transporters Association has threatened to stop plying vehicles on all routes to register their protest against police's failure to control lawlessness.

Organizing a meeting here on Wednesday, vehicle owners and crew claimed that Sheikhupura Saddar police and Factory Area police in Ferozewala were at a variance about their jurisdiction and had refused to institute a case of the incident in which two women were abducted by robbers on Tuesday.

They said officials of both police stations had refused to accept the responsibility and take action in this regard. The area where the incident took place fell in Factory Area police precinct, but the officials were eschewing responsibility, they alleged.

The transporters have demanded the Punjab governor, the chief minister and senior police officials to take action against the policemen for not registering a case.

BODIES: Bhekhi police failed to ascertain till Wednesday the motive behind the killing of three people, whose bodies were recovered late Tuesday night from Dek, about three kilometres from here. The bodies were spotted by passers by. The police are going into the matter.
