THATTA, Aug 11: Muttahida Qaumi Movement MPA Ms Heer Ismail Soho has said the use of prohibited fishing nets should be stopped and civic facilities be provided in the coastal belt to revitalize commercial and social activities in the area.

In a representation issued here on Tuesday, Ms Soho said during a visit of Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim to Thatta on Sunday, she had informed him in writing that due to increased fishing by foreign trawlers and the use of prohibited nets - Boolo, Gujo and Qatra -, fishing sites along Keti Bandar, Ghora Bari, Kharo Chan, Jati and Shah Bandar had been ruined which required proper attention of the government.

The MPA said she had also stressed the need for eliminating copy culture in educational institutions and streamlining primary education, particularly in the coastal belt. She demanded establishment of a degree college in Mirpur Sakro and a high school in Bilawal Nagar Dhabeji

She called for fair water distribution and remodelling of the Ganj Bahar Branch. Ms Soho said the chief minister had assured her that problems of the district would be resolved.
