Earthquake hits upcountry

PESHAWAR, Aug 10: People of Chitral, Peshawar, Lahore and Islamabad were jolted by an earthquake of moderate intensity in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to Met office, the intensity of the earthquake on the Richter scale was 5.5 and it lasted three seconds.

The tremors were felt in other parts of the NWFP but no report of casualties or any damage was received from anywhere. The epicentre of the quake was situated 300 kilometres north of Peshawar in the Hindukash range.
