SAHIWAL, Aug 10: Three members of a family were killed and four injured when a car overturned on Burewala-Arifwala road near Chak 241/EB on Monday evening. Farmer Walayat Husain was on his way to Luddan along with his family by his car (Karachi-A-6164). The accident took place when saving a donkey cart.

Walayat, his sister Samia, 14, and five-year-old daughter Sobia died on the spot while his wife Shabana and children Toba, Umair and Shoaib sustained serious injuries. The injured were admitted to hospital.

FRAUD CASE: The Sahiwal Anti Corruption Establishment registered a case against a Lahore sub-registrar, a stamp vendor and seven others for fraudulent transfer of 59 kanals of agricultural land of a farmer of Chak 88/6-R.

The land of farmer Sabir Khan was transferred by sub-registrar Muhammad Ilyas on a fake power of attorney in the name of Zia Ghani. Stamp vendor Ghulam Haidar of Lahore and seven others identified Abdul Ghani, Zia Ghani, Advocate Shafiq Ahmad, Shaukat Ali, Muhammad Mansha, lumberdar Sheikh Aziz and Muhammad Siddique allegedly finalized this fraudulent transfer of the land.

Meanwhile, the ACE registered a case of illegal gratification against former SHO of Shahkot. Farmer Fayyaz Husain of Chak 89/12-L approached SHO Raja Nadeem Mujtaba for registration of a case and paid Rs10,000 bribe for the purpose. The SHO neither registered his case nor returned the money.

The farmer lodged a complaint with ACE additional director in Lahore. An inquiry was conducted and the SHO was found guilty. Ironically, the accused is now discharging duties with the CIA staff.
