HYDERABAD, Aug 8: A delegation of the Atta Chakki Owners' Association called on the provincial food minister and the director in Karachi on Saturday and apprised them of the wheat situation.

Talking to Dawn later, Nawab Ali, who led the delegation, expressed disappointment over what he called the indifferent attitude of Minister Arif Jatoi, and alleged that the minister was least concerned about the supply of flour to Hyderabad.

He said that the association would discuss the situation, particularly the attitude of the minister. The association at a meeting held here on Friday had protested against release of 18 bags of wheat to each chakki, saying the supply could not cover even transport expenses.

Observing that chakki owners would not be able to meet requirements of people, the meeting demanded that the food department should release the sanctioned quota of wheat to chakkis. Mr Ali presided over the meeting.
