ISLAMABAD, Aug 4: Pakistan has contacted Egypt to know the veracity of an Al Qaeda statement that it had carried out the suicide attack on Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz, says foreign office spokesman Masood Khan.

"We are trying to check out every kind of lead in this regard, internally as well as externally," he told VoA. In this connection, he added, the Egyptian government had been approached.

In reply to a question, the spokesman said he could not go into details of investigation because it was a sensitive matter.

He said terrorist groups were 'very mysterious' and their ways of committing crimes were very secret. Therefore, it would be difficult to come to a conclusion. However, he added, efforts to this effect were under way. -APP
