KASUR, Aug 4: A wagon conductor was killed while 18 passengers, including five women and three children, sustained injuries as the vehicle overturned here on Wednesday at Gaga Sarai Chheena village, Sarai Mughal.

Reports said the van (SJ-1785) was going from Lahore to Okara. Near Gaga Sarai Chheena, driver Liaqat Ali lost his control over the vehicle while negotiating a turn as a result it overturned.

Shabbir Ahmad died on the spot. The injured were identified as Sakina Bibi, Rukhsana Bibi, Sardaran, Firdaus, Zarina and her three children Atif Ali (4), Zubair (7), Asma (9), Qurban Ali, Faqir Hussain, Jamshed Iqbal, Manzoor Ahmad, Mushtaq, Hafeez Ahmad, Zakir Ali, Abdul Majeed, Tariq Mehmood and Rizwan Chaudhry.

The injured were taken to the local health centre from where Qurban Ali, Sardaran and Mushtaq were referred to the Lahore Jinnah Hospital.

ABDUCTED: Two women were abducted in different incidents here on Wednesday. Police said Ramzan along with his three accomplices entered the house of Abdul Latif at Gandhi Hathar village, Chunian, abducted his wife 'N' at gunpoint, took away Rs25,000 and jewellery.

At Dhilan village, Phoolnagar, Rafique and his three accomplices abducted the daughter 'R' of Mushtaq from his house.

ROBBERY: Eight men looted cash and gold from a house at Sada Autar village, Chunian. Reports said the bandits entered the house of Mushtaq, held the family members hostage and made off with Rs20,000 and gold valuing Rs50,000.
