BAHAWALPUR, Aug 4: The 'fake' death certificate of an under-trial dacoity accused, who reportedly got job in the National Highway and Motorway Police, has caused rift between a union council Nazim and his councillor.
UC No 5 councillor Mehtab Kausar Bokhari is alleged to have attested the claim of Muhammad Ashraf, the uncle of accused Faisal Shahzad, that he (Faisal) was dead.
The fake certificate was also countersigned by UC Nazim Azizur Rahman after which it was produced before the trial court sessions judge in Karachi in a bid to wind up proceedings against Faisal.
It is learnt that the councillor has now claimed in a written statement that he did not attest the declaration of Faisal's death. The UC Nazim, who had sought explanation from the councillor, claimed that the latter had attested over 40 death and birth certificates so far.
The two union council officials have developed differences over the issue. The matter has also been reported to the tehsil Nazim who, according to rules, has nothing to do with this matter.
