KARACHI, Aug 3: Sindh Culture and Tourism Minister Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani on Tuesday said that Rs78 million have been released for development projects pertaining to Gorakh Hill resort , while Rs100 million were also released last year for these projects.

Speaking at a meeting held to review the projects, the minister said the resort was located at a considerable height from the sea level, and it might prove to be backbone of tourism in the province.

He informed the meeting that work on the project was continuing expeditiously for construction of roads, hotel, restaurant, police picket and mosques at the hill station and added that he would soon be visiting the project site.

The minister further said that talks were on for expansion and development of the Kalri Lake with foreign experts, British and American fast food chains and beverage companies, besides other private sector groups, who were interested in construction of a 'Mini Land' and 'Disney Land,' park, restaurant, water park, roads and boats at the lake.

Mr Qaimkhani informed the meeting that Rs1 million for construction of a watch tower at Keenjhar Lake, Rs0.5 for Mirpur Khas, while another Rs1 million have been reserved for expansion of Sindh Museum, besides establishment of museums at Mithi and Khewara.

The meeting also reviewed pace of construction work at cultural complexes in Rani Kot and Khairpur and library in Mitiari, and directed the agencies concerned to complete these schemes in time. -PPI
