THATTA, Aug 2: The late Ibrahim Munshi was among those poets who fought for the cause of Sindh till their last breath through their poetry and also by taking part in practical struggle.
This was stated by Muttahida Qaumi Movement MPA Heer Soho at a gathering to mark the first death anniversary of the poet in his village, Jenhan Soomro, near here on Monday.
Muttahida MNA Nisar Ahmed Panhwar, MPA Naeem Ishtiaque, member of central coordination committee Hussamuddin Jalali, district coordinator Farrukh Azam and others also spoke on the occasion.
Paying tribute to Mr Munshi, they said that throughout his life and despite financial restraints and personal miseries, he kept on motivating masses to raise voice against social injustice and stand up for the achievement of their rights.
His poetry created courage and confidence amongst the downtrodden masses for which he was jailed many times, they said. The speakers said that without any discrimination of language, the MQM honoured the exceptional services of those who worked for society. They added that their party was striving to bridge the rural and urban gulf in Sindh.
FIR: An FIR has been lodged against four Hesco officials for their negligence resulting in electrocution of a student in the Ahmed Khan Zaur village near here on Sunday.
The student, Ghulam Akbar Zaur, 17, died immediately after he came into contact with an 11000KV live wire while boarding a stationary bus. His brother, Ghulam Mustafa Zaur, stated in the FIR, lodged with Mirpur Bathoro police, that villagers had repeatedly apprised the Hesco officials about the loose high tension wire but they did not pay any heed. Those nominated in the FIR are SDO Riaz Ahmed, line superintendents Riaz Butt and Bashir Ahmed Lashari and lineman Barkat Mastoi.
