KARACHI, Aug 2: The Sindh government is contemplating to launch a number of projects with foreign cooperation and assistance, especially for environment and alternate energy resources.

This was stated by Advisor to Chief Minister on Environment, Noman Saigal in a meeting with foreign businessmen, industrialists and diplomats here on Monday. "We are focussing on promotion of alternate energy and there is are plans to launch mega projects to achieve this objective", he said.

The government, he said, had already prepared a working paper in this regard under which alternate energy resources will be developed. Special emphasis would be given to projects of wind-mills, water mills, solar energy, etc., he added

Noman Saigal said to put these projects on ground, cooperation of foreign investors would be sought. The advisor informed the US and other diplomats about sufficient energy generated in Holland and other developed countries through windmills and said industrial and business concerns were getting maximum benefits there from the same.

He said that for environmental improvement, a proposal is under consideration whereby acquiring fitness certificate would be made compulsory before a public vehicle is purchased.

It will also be made compulsory to obtain NOC from EPA before installation of a CNG plant and other plants and factories using gas as a fuel. It would also be imperative for new hospitals to install Incinerators for proper disposal of hospital wastes.

The advisor said that to ensure smooth functioning of his department, black sheep and corrupt elements would be weeded out while honest and hard working employees would be encouraged. -APP
