KARACHI, Aug 1: The Sindh governor, Dr Ishratul Ibad, on Sunday decided to form an advisory board for information technology (IT) to promote e-Government at the provincial level.

The board would identify the needs of each provincial department, and prepare projects for computerization so that IT could be used at optimum level for passing on information to people instantly.

The decision was made in a high-level meeting, chaired by Ibad at the Governor's House. The governor would be chairman of the board, while provincial minister for IT, additional chief secretary, secretary, planning and development, and secretary IT, would be its members.

Besides other officials, 10 people from the private sector would also be nominated to the IT advisory board. He also directed an improvement in the standards of IT educational institutions and directed the IT minister to arrange for the training of government functionaries to use computer and Internet. - APP
