KARACHI, July 29: The education department, following the directives of Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro, has constituted nine committees throughout Sindh to ensure transparent distribution of free textbooks among schoolchildren.

These committees would also investigate issues and complaints regarding sale of textbooks and submit their reports to authorities in a week. The committee constituted for Karachi would be headed by Muhammad Ali Mangrio, deputy secretary (A&T) with district officer (Acd) and Hussain Soomro, deputy director (RM&E) as its members.

Similarly, the committee for Sukkur and Ghotki districts include Saindad Khan Solangi, project director, DEEP as its chairman, and district officers (Acd) of both districts as its members; Prof Muhammad Ilyas Soomro Director (SEMIS) as chairman of Sanghar and Nawabshah districts' committee, and DOs (Acd) of both districts as members; Raja Ghulam Hussain Principal GCT (SITE) as chairman of Shikarpur and Jacobabad districts' committee, and DOs (Acd) of each district as its members.

The committee for Larkana and Dadu districts would be headed by Manzooor Hussain Bhutto, director, Bureau of Curriculum, with DOs (Acd) of both districts as members; while Haji Sher Muhammad Soomro would be chairman for Khairpur and Naushehro Feroze districts, and DOs (Acd) of both districts will be its members.

The committee for Badin and Thatta districts would be headed by Dr Dur Muhammad Pathan, director Non-formal Education as its chairman and DOs (Acd) of both districts as its members; Mr Latif Siddiqui would be chairman of Mirpurkhas and Mithi districts' committee and DOs (Acd) of both districts would be its members. While the committee for Hyderabad district has Dr Mehboob Shaikh, Director General (PITE) as its chairman and DO (Acd) and DO (Colleges) as its members. - PPI
