GUJRANWALA, July 29: Scores of paddy growers of Wahando on Thursday demonstrated against pesticide dealers for supplying spurious pesticide. The protesting growers gathered outside the local agriculture office and chanted slogans against the pesticide dealers.

They apprised an official that they had purchased pesticide for spray on their paddy crops a few days ago. But they alleged that their paddy crop worth hundreds of thousands of rupees was destroyed due to spurious pesticide.

At this, an agriculture inspector raided the shop of dealer Muhammad Arif in Wahando and recovered about 200 bags of spurious pesticide from his godown. Later, he was handed over to police who registered a case against him.

CAUGHT: A team of Gepco raided two factories and caught red-handed their owners while stealing electricity in Bakhtewala locality here on Thursday. Accused Azhar Ayub and Naseer had been stealing electricity through remote control for commercial purpose since long. The raiding team issued them heavy detection bills besides taking legal action against them.
