MIRPURKHAS, July 29: The deputy election commissioner of the Mirpurkhas division, Chaudhry Masroor Ahmed, has said that all necessary arrangements have been made to hold by-elections in NA- 229 (Tharparkar-I) in a transparent manner.
He was presiding over a meeting in Mithi on Thursday which was attended by DCO Tharparkar Gul Hassan Channo and other officials. He said necessary facilities would be provided at 220 polling stations across Diplo, Mithi and Chachhro talukas. Mr Chaudhry directed officials of the education department to perform election duties diligently. He said no changes would be made in their assignments.

TRANSFERS: Unrest is prevailing among doctors of the Civil Hospital, Mirpurkhas, following directives that eight doctors of the hospital would perform their duties in the Civil Hospital, Mithi.
The hospital's administration said if these doctors were relieved at a time then difficulties would be multiplied as some doctors were already on leave. The civil surgeon of the hospital, Dr Saleem Raza Memon, directed eight specialist doctors - Dr Toufeeq, Dr Wasey, Dr Amin, Dr Nizam Gilal, Dr Deedar Gujjo, Dr Mohammad Khan Pahore, Dr Sanjay Kumar and Dr Sikandar Samejo - to perform their duties in the Civil Hospital Mithi for a week.
COMPENSATION: District Nazim Tharparkar Arbab Attaullah has said Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim will distribute cheques of Rs88.690 million among victims of the last year's rains. Speaking at a meeting of district officers in Mithi on Wednesday, he said cheques would be distributed among 17,738 rain affected people with each getting Rs5,000.
