KARACHI, July 28: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan issued on Wednesday directives for making effective and fool-proof safety arrangements for people, particularly children, at recreational places.

Taking strict notice of the accidents occurring at an amusement park, Aladin Park, the governor asked the officials concerned to examine all the factors involved in such accidents and submit him a report.

He asked the concerned authorities to fully inspect the swings and other installations in the park and seal the hazardous and insecure rides. He directed the officials to ensure enforcement of the rules at the parks. In case of any shortcoming, he said steps should be taken to make them effective.

Expressing sympathy with the affected families, he assured them of justice and directed the authorities concerned to ensure that the Aladin Park management pays compensation to the heirs of the children, who died at Aladin Park.

Ishratul Ibad said that alongwith the provision of better and secured entertainment in the existing recreational places, the provision of safety aspects in new recreational spots to be developed in future should also be taken care right from the beginning.

He pointed out that various international investors were entering into agreements for joint ventures and investment in recreational projects in the city. He issued directive for making safety measures at the coastal recreational spots more effective.

He made it clear that it was the duty of concerned authorities and organizations to keep the people informed about safety steps as well as the acts that could prove harmful. He warned of disciplinary action against persons showing any negligence or slackness on their part in this regard. -APP
