KARACHI, July 26: Eleven-year-old boy, Huzaifa, who was injured in the Aladdin Park on July 18, died on Sunday. Huzaifa became the third victim who died after suffering injuries in the same amusement park within a span of two months, police said.
However, out of the three families, father of Mohsin Khan, 13, lodged an FIR against the management and owner of the Aladdin Park. According to the SHO of Gulistan-i-Jauhar, if the boy's father is willing to lodge an FIR, the police would definitely register the case about the incident.
Shahbaz Mughal said Huzaifa was sitting with his parents when he got excited after seeing a train and started running towards it. Subsequently he was hit by the train and suffered head injuries. He was taken to the Liaquat National Hospital.
Following the accident, people present in the park tried to set the train on fire, police intervened and controlled the situation. However, they did cause damage to the train.
On June 22, Mohsin Khan, 13, died after he was crushed by a ferry in Aladdin Park. The parents of the boy blamed the management of the park for not providing timely help. Subsequently, an FIR (115/2004) was lodged at the Gulistan-i-Jauhar police station.
The management of the park, including its owners, were nominated in the FIR, SHO Shahbaz told Dawn. A few days before the incident, another boy had lost his life after drowning in the water section of the same amusement park.
Police said that boy's family was much perturbed over his death, and had criticised the park management for poor safety standards, but they preferred not to lodge an FIR against the park for reasons best known to them. So far, two swings, involved in the incidents, have been sealed by the officials of the City District Government Karachi.
