ISLAMABAD, July 25: A protest demonstration was organized in front of the Rawalpindi Press Club on Sunday against alleged violence by activists of Islami Jamiat Talba (IJT) on the participants of a peaceful signature campaign in Lahore.

The signature campaign was launched by the leaders of Youth for International Socialism, a non-governmental organizatin (NGO) and the Pakistan Trade Union Defence Committee in support of the Berozgar Naujawan Tehrik (BNT).

The participants of the protest demonstration criticized the government for not registering a case against the IJT activists by the Lahore police. Speakers on the occasion said the state had used the IJT against the BNT to suppress the voice of unemployed youth in the country and the Lahore incident was one example of this.

They warned that if a case was not registered against those involved in the attack on the camp and the BNT workers within the next 24 hours, a countrywide protest campaign would be launched.
