KARACHI, July 23: Omar Kureishi, the renowned cricket commentator and a regular Dawn columnist, has been included by the International Cricket Council in its panel of judges for the ICC Cricket Awards.

The ICC's initial list of inductees in the voting academy includes 10 legends of the game - all former Test cricketers - who will select the world's best players of the past 12 months at cricket's 'Oscars' in September.

Besides Mr Kureishi, Tony Cozier, a leading West Indian commentator, and Indian journalist Rajan Bala are also on the panel of judges.

The ICC panel of judges: Sunil Gavaskar (India), Michael Atherton (England), Martin Crowe (New Zealand), Kapil Dev (India), Graeme Pollock (South Africa), Ian Healy (Australia), Berry Richards (South Africa), Michael Holding (West Indies), David Houghton (Zimbabwe), Sidath Wettimuny (Sri Lanka), Omar Kureishi (Pakistan), Tony Cozier (West Indies), Rajan Bala (India).
