QUETTA, July 23: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf has called upon officials to ensure implementation on the law banning the hunting of endangered species, especially rare birds, in the province.
He instructed the Forest Department and other institutions concerned on Friday that protection of migratory birds should be ensured at all cost. The chief minister said that strict legal action should be taken against people violating the law in this regard.
He called for making the law more strict in this regard and said that sizable funds should be allocated for breeding of these rare avian species.
Jam Yousuf said that drought-hit areas were the main areas where migratory birds stayed, adding that progress was being made under the Drought Emergency Relief Assistance programme in these areas.
