KARACHI, July 23: The city government's master plan group of offices has received 800 cases pertaining to commercialization from the KBCA. Stating this at a meeting with officials of the group, EDO Atique Baig asked them to expedite the matter pertaining to commercialization and clear all the pending cases without any further delay.

Emphasising the need for clearing the backlog not only pertaining to commercialization but the change of land use cases, the EDO urged the officials that all such cases be expeditiously cleared strictly in accordance with rules and regulations.

At the outset, he told the meeting that the process of awarding consultancy for preparing the city's new master plan till 2020 was likely to be completed in the next couple of months because new master plan's terms of reference and the process of short-listing the names of the interested firms/ consultants had almost been finalised.

Meanwhile, sources told Dawn that though a considerable time will be consumed in framing the city's new master plan, a mechanism was being worked out for applying rules and regulations of the previous master plan of the city while disposing of cases currently being received by the MPGO.

The city, at present, is without any master plan as the previous master plan had expired in the year 2000.
