LAHORE, July 21: Punjab Auqaf and Religious Affairs Minister Sahibzada Syed Saeedul Hassan Shah has called upon the ulema and 'mashaikh' to help the government in its fight against terrorism.

Talking to a delegation of ulema and 'mashaikh' at the Canal Rest House here on Wednesday, the minister said that a Muslim could not think of taking the life of any other human being because Islam was a religion of peace and enjoined its followers to respect other religions.

He said that the ulema and 'mashaikh' should play their role in presenting a true picture of Islam to their followers and the world. The government, he said, would ensure enforcement of ban on the use of mosque amplifiers for any purpose other than the 'azan' and sermon indiscriminately.

He would soon tour the province for knowing the problems being faced by the ulema and 'mashaikh' and take steps for the solution of the same, he added.
