KARACHI, July 21: The city government has established four rain emergency centres to meet any eventuality during monsoon rains in the city.

Following are the names of district officers, appointed heads of their centres: DO (Buildings) Seta Ram Paul Centre A, Civic Centre, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Tel. 9230661; DO (RBF) Shakoor Palejo Centre B, Guru Mandir, Tel. 9231365; DO (E&M) Fazal Memon Centre C, Nishtar Road, Tel. 9215854; and ADO Qazi Wahid Centre D, Malir Band, Tel. 5389966 and 9230668.

All the rain emergency centres would work round the clock. City Nazim Niamatullah Khan directed officers and staff to ensure good performance of the centres as well as constant coordination with concerned departments during rains/emergency situation.

He asked EDO Health to ensure availability of medicines, medical staff and ambulances at the Medical Centre (poly-clinic), Civic Centre. He also directed the medical officers and paramedics to ensure prompt medical assistance to affected people in rain emergency. -PPI
