KARACHI, July 20: The Sindh government has set up a dispensary at the Keenjhar Lake, where doctors and other staff will provide round-the-clock medical aid to people, and ambulances will be arranged shortly to tackle any emergency situation.

Sindh Tourism and Culture Minister Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani said this while talking to newsmen on Tuesday. He said registration of the boats being operated at the lake was compulsory, while a restriction had been imposed that not more than eight persons should board a boat, besides a large number of life-saving jackets had also been provided for picnickers.

The minister said that law and order in the province was satisfactory, but tourism was being affected due to the negative media reports about the province. He said that to promote tourism in the province, air-conditioned coach and buses would be plied for the Keenjhar Lake, Thar desert and other place of tourists' interest, where they would be provided residential and food facilities.

Several historical places in Sindh, including Makkli graveyard, Moen Jo Daro and Rani Kot Fort, were being managed by the federal government, while the Sindh government had asked the Centre for handing over the management of these places, he added. He said a restaurant would be set up at Hawkesbay, while shows would be arranged for promotion of cultural activities in the province. -PPI
