NEW DELHI, July 19: Arch-rivals India and Pakistan will play a limited-overs international at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Nov 14 to mark the 75 years of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), officials said on Monday.

"We are delighted that Pakistan has agreed to play the match to commemorate the platinum jubilee of the board," BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya told reporters here. "It is fitting that the match will be against Pakistan, who were part of India when the BCCI was established in 1929."

India and Pakistan were partitioned during independence from British rule in 1947. The match will be sandwiched between the Test series against Australia and South Africa to be played in India this year.

Australia's four-Test series ends on Nov 7, while the first of two Tests against South Africa starts on Nov 20. The Indian government this year lifted a ban on bilateral cricket with Pakistan, paving the way in March-April for the Indian team's first Test series across the border since 1989. Pakistan are expected to play Test matches in India in March next year. -AFP
