KARACHI, July 19: Two men were shot dead by robbers in separate incidents in different parts of the city on Monday. A security guard was shot dead by robbers outside a bank branch at Guru Mandir.

Police said that the security guard, Rahim Bukhsh Baloch, who was on duty at the Allied Bank of Pakistan, Binnori town branch, intercepted three suspects entering the bank premises. They opened fire at him and fled.

The wounded guard was taken to the Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The victim hailed from Javani, Balochistan, police said. In Jacoblines, a middle-aged man was shot dead during a motorcycle-snatching bid on Monday.

Police said that two armed men tried to snatch motorcycle from Altaf Memon, 40, at gunpoint. As he resisted, they opened fire at him and fled. The injured died on way to the hospital. Doctors said that the victim had suffered two bullet wounds.

SUICIDE: A jobless man committed suicide by consuming poison near Timber Market on Monday. Police said that Zarnar, 40, had been jobless for the past six months. Father of four, he had come from Gadani to Karachi in search of job.

In depression, he consumed poisonous substance in the OCS Compound, located near Timber Market, on Monday. His body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for postmortem examination.

DIES: A newly-wedded woman suffered serious burns while cooking in her house in Cattle Colony on Monday. Police said that Nusrat, 18, wife of Shujaat, was cooking meal when the stove burst.

She suffered serious burns and was shifted to the Civil Hospital, where she died during treatment. According to the police, the couple had married only a few days back.

BODY FOUND: The body of an unidentified man was found from Lasi Para in Baldia Town on Monday. Police said that the unknown victim bore multiple bullet wounds in his head and shoulder.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for postmortem examination. Following the legal formalities, the body was sent to the Edhi morgue for identification.

124 VEHICLES TAKEN AWAY LAST WEEK

KARACHI, July 19: Bandits either hijacked or stole 124 vehicles - 36 cars and 88 motorcycles - during the past one week in various parts of the metropolis.

According to police statistics, 23 car were taken away at gunpoint by the bandits and 13 others were stolen in North Nazimabad, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Aziz Bhatti, Defence, Saddar and Ferozabad.

At least 51 motorcycles were hijacked and 37 stolen in F B Area, North Karachi, Clifton, Landhi, Lyari, Saeedabad and other areas, the police claimed.
