PESHAWAR, July 18: Pakistan People's Party has demanded withdrawal of all cases against Asif Ali Zardari. Speaking to party workers at the residence of Khanzada Khan in Mardan on Sunday , provincial chief of the PPP, Rahimdad Khan, said that the party could not be marginalized by setting up a parallel organization with the same name as such experiences had failed in the past.

"The people know who is leading the genuine party and who are serving the cause of anti-people and anti-democratic forces," he added. He said that only PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto was capable of steering the country out of the "present political mess created by the adventurists and their allied groups".

Meanwhile, talking to Dawn by telephone from Mardan, Syed Qamar Abbas, provincial senior vice-president of PPP, said that all the 24 district organizations had been asked to bring the maximum number of people for the July 26 public meeting being organized at Chowk Yadgar to denounce "the unwarranted detention of Mr Zardari, who is braving the worst kind of political vendetta".

He said a team led by PPP provincial chief Rahimdad Khan had visited Swabi, Mardan and Nowshera and addressed workers' meetings in connection with the July 26 public meeting at Peshawar.

The office-bearers of Zardari Release Committee also accompanied them. Mr Abbas said Rahimdad Khan had advised the party leaders and workers at all the three districts to ensure their presence at the public meeting in Peshawar.
