ISLAMABAD, July 14: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has approved a Rs35 million project submitted by Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Jamshoro regarding the establishment of central library & online information centre at the campus.

Through the project necessary library and online information facilities for the students, teachers and employees of the university and for professional people in Sindh would be provided, said an official statement.

The scheme aims at enhancing quality education by providing a comfortable and peaceful reading atmosphere for the library users and providing them books, research journals/periodicals on various topics related to engineering and basic science subjects in particular and to a limited extent on other subjects of general interest.

The facilities for photocopying of study material for students, teachers and other users of the library and printing and production of research papers, reports and project / thesis of the students as well as other documents of the university would be available through the scheme.

The other objectives of the scheme include provision of on-line (retrieval) facilities for literature search within and outside the country and provision of procurement facilities for the purchase of books, journals etc. for the library users.
