KARACHI, May 22: A meeting of Ulema and Mashaikh, belonging to various schools of thought and chaired by the provincial home secretary, Brig Mukhtar Ahmed, here on Wednesday, unanimously strongly condemned the unfortunate incident of the stoning of Masjid Noor Subhani and the procession which resulted in loss of life and property, besides injuries to innocent people.

The participants appealed to the people to remain peaceful, forge unity and promote sectarian harmony. They also urged the people to celebrate the birthday of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) according to Islamic traditions and to demonstrate love and amity in their ranks.

They further appealed that in view of the dangers at the country’s borders, people should unitedly crush the evil designs of the enemies of Islam and Pakistan.

It was decided that investigations of those taken into custody be expedited at the earliest, and the innocent be released immediately.
