KARACHI, July 13: Two bandits were shot dead in different areas of the city on Tuesday. According to police, three bandits sneaked into the house of Mohammad Sultan in Block-12, Gulistan-i-Jauhar.

However, Sultan got conscious and pulled out his licensed pistol. As the bandits walked in, he opened fire killing one of them. The bandits returned fire and managed to escape.

Police found a TT pistol and shifted the bandit's body to a hospital for autopsy. In Hyderi, police shot dead an alleged bandit during an exchange of fire. Police said that three suspicious persons were seen on a motorcycle in Block-H.

The Hyderi police signalled them to stop. Instead, they fired at police and tried to flee. Police returned the fire resulting in death of a suspect. However, his accomplices managed to escape. Later, the body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy. The body was later shifted to Edhi morgue for identification.

DIES: An under trial prisoner, who was admitted to Civil Hospital on Monday, died at the hospital on Tuesday. Police said that Mohammad Yaqoob, 60, was arrested by Mominabad police from Orangi Town for his alleged involvement in a rape case. Yaqoob was facing trial in the case.

His condition deteriorated in Central Prison Karachi and was shifted to the Civil Hospital a day before his death. Hospital sources said that Yaqoob, hailing from Bahawalpur, was suffering from multiple ailments.

ROBBERY: At least Rs4.2 million were looted at gunpoint from a mobile phone dealer's shop in Block 13-D, Gulshan-i-Iqbal. Police said that Baaz Khan, a former security guard of the shop, and his accomplices raided the shop. They took away Rs4,217,182 and calling cards of thousands of rupees at gunpoint.
