QUETTA, July 11: The opposition leader in the Balochistan Assembly, Kachkol Ali Baloch, has urged Chief Minister Jam Mohammad Yousuf to accept the demands of the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) and help end doctors' strike.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club here on Sunday, he criticized the suspension of the junior registrar of the Bolan Medical College, Dr Shireen Khan, on the behest of an MMA senator and said that it was not only injustice but also clear violation of rules and regulations.

MPA Rehmat Ali Baloch of the National Party, MPA Mir Akbar Mengal of BNP-Mengal, representatives of Fellow Doctors Action Committee, Quetta, and Dr Shireen Khan were also present at the press conference.

Mr Baloch alleged that the unilateral action by the authorities of health department against Dr Khan and the attitude of the officials of department concerned not to hold talks with PMA forced the doctors to go on strike.

The opposition leader claimed that on June 3, Senator Rehmatullah of the MMA brought Minister Maulvi Mohammad Rahim Bazai to CCU of civil hospital and wanted him to be admitted to CCU but Dr Khan suggested that the patient was suffering from palsy so neuro-physician would treat him.

He said that the senator got enraged at the advice of the doctor and not only insulted him but warned him of termination.
