ISLAMABAD, July 11: Senior Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League Akram Zaki says dialogue between Pakistan and India on all issues including the core issue of Kashmir is the only option to ensure durable peace in South Asia.

He was delivering a lecture on "Peace and Security in South Asia" organized by 'Sauch Samundar', an intellectual forum for teachers of Federal Directorate of Education, at a local college.

Mr Zaki said the confidence-building measures (CBMs) revived by President General Pervez Musharraf and former Indian prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee during their meeting in Islamabad in January this year would reach their logical conclusion.

He said due to various domestic and international elements, both India and Pakistan had been engaged in the dialogue process to resolve all the disputes, particularly the lingering Kashmir issue.

Giving background of Pakistan-India dialogues on various occasions, Akram Zaki said on June 23, 1997, both the countries agreed to start a composite dialogue on all issues to improve bilateral relations and to ensure peace in the region. - PPI
