Islamabad hails verdict

Published July 10, 2004

ISLAMABAD, July 9: Pakistan has hailed the ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that Israel's right to self-defence does not justify the infringement on Palestinian rights caused by its controversial wall in the West Bank.

Talking to PTV on Friday, Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan said, "The International Court of Justice has fulfilled the requirements of justice." He said the ruling by the world court on Israel's West Bank separation barrier was a historic decision for the Palestinian people.

According to the judgment, the world court called on the UN General Assembly and the Security Council on Friday to put an end to Israel's illegal construction of wall on the West Bank. -APP
