MIRPURKHAS, July 6: The tail-end farmers of Mirpur distributary held a demonstration outside the press club here on Tuesday to protest against water theft by influential landlords in connivance with irrigation department officials. Carrying banners and placards, they raised slogans against the irrigation officials and influential landlords involved in water theft.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Rehman Panhwar, Haji Asmatullah and others demanded that the director of the Nara Canal Area Water Board should seek deployment of Rangers along the distributary to curb water theft. They regretted that due to water theft, fertile land at tail end of the distributary had turned barren and the farmers had suffered loss.
