JACOBABAD/SUKKUR, July 4: Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has said he resigned as the prime minister because it was his party's decision. Talking to journalists at the Jacobabad railway station on his arrival from Islamabad on Sunday morning, Mr Jamali said he would abide by Pakistan Muslim League rules.

Mr Jamali also made it clear that he would not accept any post in the future but added that he would not retire from politics. He said he was indebted to the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy leadership for the cooperation they extended to him but he would not violate party policies.

When asked whether the reason for his resignation was his refusal to allow military operation against Nawab Akbar Bugti, Mr Jamali replied that he had spoke on the issue a couple of days back which had been published in a section of the press and did not offer any further comment.

Mr Jamali claimed that during his tenure, he had served the masses without any discrimination and fulfilled all promises made to people. He said his government had constructed roads and provided gas and electricity to remote areas.

Answering a question about the success of the Chaudary Shujaat Hussain government, he said it depended on how well Mr Hussain implemented party decisions.

Earlier, the former prime minister was welcomed by Khan Mohammad Jamali, Abdul Rehman Jamali, Mir Manzoor Khan Panhwar, Mir Mansab Khan Jakhrani, EDO Shamsuddin Soomro, DIGP, Sukkur range, Mohammad Ramzan Channa, DIGP, Sibbi range, Akhtar Janwari, and DPO Din Mohammad Baloch.

Mr Jamali had reached Jacobabad by the Quetta Express at 8:50am. He was escorted from the railway station by many vehicles in the form of a caravan to his hometown of Rojhan Jamali.
