ISLAMABAD, July 1: Pakistan's top ranked player Aqeel Khan dumped India's Ajay Ramaswami in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 to make it to the final of ITF Men's Satellite Masters Tennis Tournament in New Delhi on Thursday.

In the final to be played at DLTA Complex on Friday, Aqeel Khan will take on top seed Japanese Norikazu Sugiyama who outplayed Briton Joshua Goodall 6-2 6-4 in the other semifinal.

Aqeel, 24, broke Ramaswami in the very first game to comfortably win the set.He registered two breaks, in the first and ninth games as against one by Ramaswamy in the second game, to clinch the second set and the match.

Ramaswami had advanced to the last four when his opponents retired hurt in the quarterfinals and pre-quarters. Earlier Aqeel stunned second seed Uppal Vishal of India in straight sets 6-1, 7-5 on Wednesday to move into the semifinals.

Aqeel broke Vishal twice, in the 4th and 6th games, to easily win the first set while the second set went up to 5-5 before he again broke the serve of his Indian rival in the 11th game and followed it by holding his own to wrap up the quarterfinal contest. -APP
