KARACHI, July 1: A Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leader on Thursday termed the resignation of former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali a cruel joke with democracy and said the rulers were trying to impose dictatorship on the country.

Sindh Jamaat-i-Islami Amir Dr Mumtaz Ali Memon said while presiding over a provincial party meeting that the JI would not hesitate in paying any sacrifice for the establishment of peace and elimination of hatred from Karachi but would not compromise with terrorists and killers.

He said the party had announced the peace march for the promotion of brotherhood but terrorists created hitches and tried to make it a failure but the Karachiites foiled their conspiracy.

He termed the ban on the peace march illegal and unconstitutional. He said people did not participate in the peace rally of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, which was supported by public funds and machinery. He said the MMA's march proved that people were with it and they rejected terrorists and United States agents.

Participants of the meeting discussed the political situation in Sindh, the peace march in Karachi and the performance of the city government in the provincial capital. -PPI
