PESHAWAR, July 1: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) seized government cables from various shops in Chowk Yadgaar here and arrested six persons on Thursday.

According to a press release, the FIA conducted the raid after receiving information about the open sale of cables originally owned by the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited and Peshawar Electric Supply Company.

The FIA team raided the shops in Chowk Yadgaar and recovered the government cables worth millions of rupees. Those arrested were Javed Khan, Ashraf, Hamid, Safeer, Imtiaz alias Samandar Khan and another person whose identity could not be known. The FIA have registered a case against the accused and started investigation against them and the two government departments.

HURT: Unidentified burglars injured two persons when they put up resistance to their attempts, police officials said on Thursday. Mohammad Zahir, a resident of Mandi Akhund, told Pishtakhara police that some unidentified armed burglars entered his house and tried to collect expensive household items.

He said that when he raised a hue and cry, the accused opened fire on his wife Afsara and injured her. But the burglars fled without collecting anything. Separately, unidentified highwaymen injured Qadir Khan, a resident of Ittehad Colony, when he was on his way to home after Isha prayers. Faqirabad police have registered a case.
