KARACHI, July 1: Positive habits make an overall impact on the personality of a man, and these lead him to an effective and successful life. This was stated by an expert at a workshop, organized by the Pakistan Press Foundation.

Afzal Janjua, faculty member of the Hamdard University, while speaking on the book "Seven habits of highly effective people," said that Stephen R, Covey's internationally recognized concept offers key to an effective and successful life.

By adopting these habits, we also need three kinds of assets - physical assets (listening, seeing, taste, etc), financial assets (property) and human assets (talents, techniques etc).

Janjua said anyone should take measures before occurrence of any problem and should not be reactive but proactive. "Whenever anyone starts his programme, he should focus on its end results and be prepared for any good or bad results."

"We should adopt such policies which must be beneficial for all parties involved in a matter, rather than causing loss to others." We should listen more than we speak and be a good listener, he added.

According to him, teamwork would provide better results. If any dissent erupts in any matter, it could create rift in opinion and the result might be negative. Mr Janjua added that more skills and more efficiency in any work brings good results. "People can easily bear the setbacks of life if they adopt these seven habits," he said. -PPI
