LCCA elections illegal: PCB

Published July 1, 2004

LAHORE, June 30: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday declared the elections of the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) as unconstitutional and illegal. "They are not only violative of the directives issued by the PCB, but are also against the LCCA's constitution and that of the PCB.

Some of the alleged elected office-bearers have also contravened the provisions of the 2001 sports policy promulgated by the Government of Pakistan," a PCB press release stated.

Later, the LCCA also issued a press release in which it warned the PCB that it would move to courts if any action was taken against the provincial association. LCCA claims that the elections were held legally under its constitution and also that of the PCB.
