BAHAWALPUR, June 30: All the three top positions were clinched by girls in the matriculation examination. Two prisoners of the new central jail also bagged second and third positions in the humanities group.
BISE chairman Mohtarama Bilqees Akram said 40,408 candidates got through the examination out of 46,373, showing a pass percentage of 87.13. Razia Zafar of the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Yazman, bagged first position by securing 770 marks. Aiza Akbar and Sana Sarwar of Sir Syed Public Higher Secondary School, Chishtian, captured second and third positions by obtaining 766 and 760 marks, respectively.
SCIENCE GROUP (BOYS): Muhammad Nauman Iqbal of the Government High School, Satellite Town, stood first by securing 759 marks. Hafiz Muhammad Hassan Shaukat of the Tameer-i-Nau Model High School, Hasilpur, and Arslan Shammas of the FFC Model High School, Goth Machhi (Sadiqabad) captured second and third positions by obtaining 758 and 745 marks, respectively.
GENERAL GROUP: Hafiz Muhammad Ahmad of Fort Abbas was declared first by securing 612 marks. Muhammad Sadiq of the Government Quaid-i-Millat Higher Secondary School (Bahawalnagar) and Ahmad Ali, who is currently detained at the Bahawalpur central jail), shared second position by obtaining 607 marks each. The third position also went to another prisoner, Muhammad Naeem, who got 597 marks.
GENERAL GROUP (GIRLS): Hira Rahman of the Government Comprehensive High School (Bahawalpur) got first position by securing 689 marks. Ruqaia Bibi of the Government Girls High School, Uch Sharif, and Ghazal Islam of the Government Girls High School Chak 31/P, Khanpur, (Rahim Yar Khan) were declared second and with 684 and 682 marks, respectively. The award ceremony will be held under the chairmanship of Punjab Environment Minister Makhdoom Ashfaq Ahmad on July 8.
