QUETTA, June 30: A division bench of Balochistan High Court directed the government on Wednesday to release one Masood Jamaldani as his detention was illegal but another detenu's petition was disposed of when the advocate-general informed the court that he was required in high profile cases of terrorism, including a blast in Gwadar seaport.

The bench, comprising Chief Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani, ordered that as no substantial evidence was proved against Mr Jamaldani of Nushki, who was detained by the provincial home department under the MPO, should be set at liberty as his detention was unlawful.

The court in another case, disposed of the petition of Mohammad Aslam Gurgnari of Khuzdar after the court was informed that the detenu was required in interrogation of terrorism cases.
