Sweet revenge for Aqeel

ISLAMABAD, June 24: Pakistan No.1 Aqeel Khan caused a major upset over coming second seed and winner of second leg Uppal Vishal of India in the quarterfinal and moved into the semi-final in the third leg of Indian Satellite circuit at New Delhi on Thursday.

Uppal Vishal won the first set at 6-4 by breaking Aqeel's 9th game. In the second set Vishal build up the winning lead 5-4 breaking Aqeel's 5th game and was serving for the match but Aqeel fought back and levelled the score at 5-5.

Aqeel grabbed the second set at 7-5 breaking 12th game of Vishal and levelled the match one set all. He won the final set and the match 6-3 displaying powerful ground stokes after breaking 8th game of Vishal and avenged his semi-final defeat of second leg by the Indian.

Aqeel will now face Sunil Kumar of India in the semi-final. Earlier Aqeel outclassed Yu Hiu-Tung of Hong Kong in the pre- quarterfinal 6-4,6-3. Pakistan's Shahzad Khan also qualified for the master event. -APP
