BAGHDAD, June 24: Iraqi prime minister Iyad Allawi warned of worse to come after a wave of attacks left scores of dead across four cities on Thursday, but vowed to defeat the guerillas.
"We expect more escalation in the days ahead," Mr Allawi told reporters, just six days before his caretaker government is due to take power from the Coalition Provisional Authority.
"This is an opportunity for me to ask the Iraqi people to close ranks, and inform on these criminals," he said. "We are going to defeat them. We're going to crush them." -AFP
