Chattha, Shujaat head NA bodies

ISLAMABAD, June 16: Member of the National Assembly Hamid Nasir Chattha, who has been elected the chairman of Special Committee on Kashmir, has sought all parties co-operation on Kashmir issue.

His name as chairman of the committee was proposed by Sardar Talib Hussain Nakai and seconded by Dr Noor Jehan Panezai. According to a press release on Wednesday, Mr Chattha said Kashmir was a national issue and the party-divide should not be an obstacle in the work of the committee.

He added that the protection of rights of Kashmiri people was the sole objective of the committee. Speaking on the occasion, National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain highlighted the role and importance of the Kashmir committee and hoped that it would work effectively for the Kashmir cause.

MNAs who attended the meeting included Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Farooq Leghari, Raja Nadir Pervaiz, Dr Attiya Inayatullah, Ms Zeb Gohar Ayub, Shahbaz Hussain, Zahid Hamid Khan, Dr Noor Jahan Panezai, Malik Amin Aslam, Engineer Amir Muqam, Talib Nakai, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Shamim Siddiqui, Prof Mushtaq Victor, Ms Sherry Rehman, Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, Imranullah advocate, Munir Khan Orakazai, Haji Gul Muhammad Dummar and Ms Saima Akhtar Bharwana.

Likewise, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain was also elected the chairman of National Assembly's standing committee on defence, here on Wednesday. He said his priority as chairman of the committee would be to work for protection of national interest and there would be no compromise in this respect. His name was proposed by Lt-Col (retired) Ghulam Rasool Sahi and seconded by Hamid Nasir Chattha.
