ISLAMABAD, June 16: The Election Commission of Pakistan has directed that the election campaign for the June 20 by-polls in Jhang would come to an end from midnight falling between Friday and Saturday.

In an announcement issued here on Wednesday, the election commission hoped that the political parties and the candidates contesting the election would follow the provisions of law and exercise self-restraint so that the poll could be held in an orderly and peaceful manner.

The by-election for the National Assembly seat had fallen vacant because of the assassination of Maulana Azam Tariq.
