KARACHI, June 16: The Sindh Government Services Hospital (SGSH) Karachi has initiated work on an eye operation theatre (EOT) which will be equipped with modern machines. The theatre will be functional within next two months.

Talking to PPI on Wednesday, Additional Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Taufeeq said the new EOT would have a surgeon room, washroom and emergency recovery area.

Equipment worth Rs2 million had already been provided for it. "It would facilitate government employees and provide operation facilities to patients suffering from eye diseases," he added.

Giving details about other development works carried out at SGSH, he said Rs10 million had been approved under ADP, out of which Rs1 million had been received for construction work and Rs4 million for purchase of modern equipment so far. Development work at the hospital will be completed in next two years, he said.

"We have purchased modern equipment and machinery worth Rs4 million including computers, printers, water motors, air conditioners, besides furniture worth Rs1.8 million," he said.

He further said, four toilets were being renovated, flooring of dental department was underway, and two new main automatic panels of switches for electricity were being installed, while marble flooring of whole hospital building, and its face-lifting would also be carried out.

The drainage system would also be soon replaced. Dr Taufeeq concluded that parking facility for consultants and senior doctors would be provided in front of the hospital building. - PPI
