RAWALPINDI, May 21: Strict security arrangements would be taken for Eid Milad processions in Rawalpindi and Islamabad to avoid any untoward incident.
A meeting presided over by the District Nazim Raja Tariq Kiani was held in Rawalpindi to review the arrangements.
Senior Superintendent Police Moravat Shah, who was also present at the meeting informed that a ban had been imposed on witnessing the procession from the rooftops and policemen would be deployed on the rooftops of the buildings along the route of the procession.
The meeting was told that special traffic arrangements would be made and motorcyclists will not be allowed on the procession route. The traffic coming from Faizabad would be diverted through Rawal Road, while traffic coming from Saddar would follow the Tipu Road.
Members of mohalla committees have been asked to remain with the procession to ensure peaceful passage of procession.
The District Nazim asked the health authorities to put hospitals on alert and arrange medical cover for the processions.
It was decided that four fully equipped ambulances with doctors would remain with the main procession throughout the day.
Water and Sanitation Agency has been directed to arrange for drinking water for the processionists.
Civil Defence Bomb Disposal Squad and Fire Brigade have also been instructed to remain with the procession.
It was decided that a boy scouts rally would be taken out on Rabiul Awal 12 to pay homage to Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him).
